Can NanoScan replace my current antivirus?

No. Even though NanoScan detects much more than traditional antivirus solutions, it does not protect your PC permanently. NanoScan is an online scanner that detects threats that are active on your PC at the moment you scan it. To prevent malware from entering your PC, you must have an antivirus installed, enabled and up-to-date.

Do I need to enter any personal details in order to use it?

NanoScan does not ask you for your email address, password, or any other type of personal information.

If NanoScan does not detect any threats on my PC, does this mean my computer is clean?

Not necessarily. NanoScan is designed to detect ACTIVE threats. In other words, it can detect viruses, spyware, Trojans and other threats that are running on your PC at the time of the scan. NanoScan does not detect latent threats that are inactive but which could activate at any time.

If you want to be sure that your PC is really clean, we advise you to scan with the new TotalScan, which offers the best detection capacity and will root out both ACTIVE and LATENT malicious software.(www.pandasecurity.com/totalscan)

Note: Don't be surprised if TotalScan finds active viruses not detected by NanoScan. This is due to the fact that TotalScan has superior detection capacity.

What does it mean if Panda NanoScan has detected a suspicious file on my PC?

Besides known threats, NanoScan can detect new threats not yet identified thanks to the TruPrevent® technologies developed by Panda. NanoScan catalogs as "suspicious" those files that, even though they are not known threats, have malware features. When NanoScan finds a suspicious file, we recommend you send it to PandaLabs, Panda's security laboratory.

If you want to send a suspicious file to PandaLabs, scan your PC with TotalScan (http://www.pandasecurity.com/totalscan/). It will find any suspicious items and give you the option to send them.

Note: Panda's TruPrevent® technologies are in the vanguard of technologies for detecting unknown malware. When you use NanoScan you are, in fact, benefiting from a network of sensors made up of the millions of users of Panda products with TruPrevent®. Can NanoScan eliminate the threats detected?

How can NanoScan or TotalScan find viruses in my PC if it is already protected by Panda?

Currently, NanoScan or TotalScan are able to detect more than the installed, active and updated Panda security products you have. This is due to the inclusion of the new Panda MegaDetection: it is capable of detecting much more malware (viruses, spyware.) than a traditional antivirus.

Since the MegaDetection is still in a testing phase, only the beta versions of NanoScan and TotalScan include it. Once the tests finish, the MegaDetection will be included in all Panda products for home users. Meanwhile, Panda Antivirus 2008, Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2008 and Panda Internet Security 2008 include TotalScan Pro so you will be able to benefit from MegaDetection.
